Book Review: Knowing God by Name

Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland have written an outstanding book for Christian women who want to dig deeper into understanding God’s character. The way in which they do this is by studying the names of God. This can be done on your own or in a Bible study setting with other women. Each chapter is written by one of the three authors which is refreshing since each of them have their own writing style, their own personal stories to share, their own insights from the Lord.

Don’t be scared off in thinking that this book is a drudgery to go through. On the contrary, it is refreshing to read a devotional/Bible study-type book that can teach, inspire, encourage and exhort in a manner that is not stuffy or boring. Reading it on your own, you can read straight through it like an ordinary book, but it is set up in a way in which if you follow the format, you will focus on a different name of God for 5 days, then on the 6th day you are given time to meditate on the material covered. It is like that for each chapter.

I highly recommend this book to any woman who wants to truly dig deeper into studying the names of God!

This book was given to me by the publishers in exchange for an honest review.
